Kathy Freeman-Godfrey has over 20 years of experience in identifying, assessing and recruiting top financial services talent. She founded her retained search firm in 1992, focusing her work on senior sales, marketing and client-facing executives exclusively for investment firms or service providers within that market segment. Since that time, she has personally completed hundreds of assignments across the industry.
Before founding the Kathy Freeman Company, she spent seven years with boutique firms in Los Angeles, where she held management roles and conducted searches for a broad spectrum of positions and industries. Her client firms at that time encompassed real estate development, manufacturing, financial services and hospitality.
The foundation of the firm's success is its disciplined search process, which has been developed and fine tuned over many years to achieve the maximum fit between client and candidate. The process begins with an in-depth assessment of the company's needs and culture, a thorough full-day of on-site meetings. This is followed by five to ten hours of interviews personally conducted by Kathy Freeman-Godfrey, to ascertain the candidate's ability to produce results within that specific corporate environment. Comprehensive reference checking, license and degree verification and off-line market insight about the candidate's reputation round out the process.
Similar to the way investment managers work with their clients, the Kathy Freeman Company combines years of focused experience, tested research and analysis methods, and a comprehensive understanding of a company's short- and long-term goals to attract and match the right candidate with the right position.
The firm's track record attests to the effectiveness of this approach. Over 90% of the firm's business since its inception has come through repeat business or referrals. In addition, there have been no replacement searches conducted for any client over the past decade. Many of the executives placed through Kathy Freeman Company have tenures in excess of 10 years, and most have won awards and recognition for driving results for their firms.
A frequent speaker and writer on talent management issues, Kathy Freeman-Godfrey has authored studies and articles found in both Fundfire and I Carry the Bag. She is also an active member of The International Association for Corporate & Professional Recruitment (IACPR) (www.iacpr.org), where since 2000 she has collaborated with both corporate HR and retained search professionals to develop best practices in recruitment. She has also played a key role on the executive committee for IACPR's Small Search Firm Roundtable, which brings innovative thought leadership to the organization's boutique search firm members.
Kathy Freeman-Godfrey holds a BS in Marketing from California State University, Chico. She lives in San Luis Obispo, California with her husband and two children.
